Ok ... i need a good answer here .. there is always this argument whether or not MST negates the effect when it is used. In the rulebook .. they say chains happen in reverse order .. as in whatever was activated last goes first ... so you would think ... MST was activated after a trap ... and the trap gets destroyed then thats it . However , many people argue whether or not the effect is negated or still in play.

My friend who used to go to tournaments said the card is destroyed but the effect is still in play. I have no problem believing him but i dont get how the trap card "Sakuretsu Armor" seems to kill the monster? ... it doesnt say negate the attack ... or anything ... my only guess to this is because its a monster attacking? regardless if they are going to get specific with a card they shud get specific with the whole game and not partial. Sakuretsu says destroy the attacking monster and if they monster can attack then die ... then maybe it would make sense. But apparently ... MST doesnt work the same way Sakuretsu would work. MST wont negate but Sakuretsu does. This confuses me but yeah . If any 1 cud explain in depth it wud be great..

uh...monsters cannot chain their attacks...

when MST destroys a trap, that trap can be chained, that's all.

let me add more detail

Sakuretsu doesn't negate, but when monster is destoryed, there attack cannot go through. again, they can't chain their attacks.

MST doesn't negate either, that's why the trap thats being destroyed can still be chained.

An attack doesn't HAVE to be negated in order for it to be stopped. If the monster performing the attack leaves the field in any way, the attack is cancelled. Period.

MST only destoys, it doesn't negate. Sakuretsu's effect isn't continuous so it doesn't have to remain on the field for it's effect to resolve.

When you use MST, it only destroys the Spell/Trap card, not negate it. As in your example of Sakurestu Armor, when you attack and your opponent uses Sakurestu Armor and then you chain it with MST, MST will destroy Sakurestu Armor and then the Trap with destroy your monster. No matter how you put it, it will still destroy your monster unless the card says "Negate." I experience many players with this too so I hope you get the hang of it.

Player A: Attacks Player B directly.

Player B: Activates Sakurestu Armor.

Player A: Chains it with MST.

MST > Sakurestu Armor = Trap Destroyed

Sakurestu Armor > Monster = Monster Destroyed

If you use Royal Decree, Jinzo, Trap Jammer, etc. Then Sakurestu Armor is negated since in its text says "negate and destroy" while MST only says "destroy." Basically, Sakurestu Armor isn't a Continuous Trap Card, so it effect remains after the card has been used. -If it was a Continuous Trap, then the effect won't remain depending on what the Trap is- Hope i helped m8!
