I just got back into MTG, and I need to know all the new effects and rules. It would be nice if someone would also tell me the other ones. I know all the new ones like Hybrid and higher, I just need to get down the other rules. =]

Vigilance is like the Serra Angel, it means that Attacking doesn't cause the creature to tap.

If you know what the tap symbol looks like, there is now an untap symbol. Pay the mana and untap your creature to have the effect happen.

Retrace - If the card with retrace is in your graveyard, pay the mana cost of the spell and discard a land from your hand and the spell can be played again.

Flashback - pay the flashback cost of the card in your graveyard, remove the card in your graveyard from the game, but the effect goes off again.

Chroma - This ability counts the number of mana symbols of a certain type in all permanents you control and has an effect based on them when the creature comes into play.

Evoke - Play the creature for the Evoke cost to get the "comes into play" effect, but sacrifice the creature afterwards.

These are a start, it would be better if you contact me with questions that I can answer directly instead of trying to guess what you may or may not know.

Welcome back to MTG, I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do.

In Magic: The Gathering, when a creature attacks, you must "tap" it, or turn it sideways. When it's tapped, you can no longer tap it until your next turn, unless you can find a way to untap it. A creature with Vigilance doesn't tap to attack, which means that after it attacks it can block the next turn, since. Also, I saw one of your other questions, "can a creature attack more than one creature in one turn in magic the gathering?" You ignored my answer and chose the wrong answer as the best, just because it was the shortest, which makes it look like you are bad at paying attention. I will say it again. Creatures DO NOT attack creatures. A combat phase in Magic: The Gathering would look something like this. Player 1 declares one of their creatures as an attacker. Player 2 has the choice. "Do I want to take the damage directly, or do I want to block with one of my creatures?" Player 2 decides to block. The 2 creatures deal damage to each other at the same time. Any creatures with Toughness equal to or less than the opposing creature's Power is destroyed.

Vigilance is now used in place of "Attacking does not cause this creature to tap."

Deathtouch is also a space-saving way of saying "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a creature, destroy that creature at the end of combat."

Lifelink is a re-wording of Spirit Link: "Whenever this creatures deals damage, its controller gains that much life."

Reach is another ability that got abridged. It's most commonly found on Spider-type creatures. "This creature may block as though it had flying."

Flying is still Flying, Trample is still Trample, and First Strike is still First Strike. There are a few new ones, like Double-strike, where the attacking creature deals First Strike damage and THEN normal combat damage.

Vigilance: Attacking does not cause this creature to tap. Many old cards simply had written out the ability, it wasn't until the introduction of Champions of Kamigawa in 2004 that the keyword ability title was created.

Viginlance means that a creature will not tap to attack.

Lifelink means that when a creature deals damage to a creature or player its controler will gain life equal to the damage dealt. Multiple instances of lifelink stack, so if you control two Essence Slivers, each one will gain you 6 life every time they deal damage (each one will have 2 instances of lifelink).

Shroud means that it can not be targeted by spells or abilities.

Double strike means it can deal first strike damage and combat damage.

Reach means that it can block creatures as if this creature had flying.

Flash means that you can play this permanent any time you can play an instant.

Hope this helps

Vigilance=Creature doesn't tap when attacking.

Flying=Can't be blocked except by creatures with Flying

Trample=When blocked takes the difference between it's attack and the blocking monsters defense and takes it from your life

umm... I can't really think of any more off the top of my head.
