Years ago someone did a computer simulation of texas hold 'em starting hands and how they faired when played to the river. When analysis was complete Q7 was in the middle meaning 50% of the starting hands beat Q7 and 50% of the starting hands lost to it.

That's not quite true jazz. Q5 is much closer to a "median" hand winning 50.120% of the time. Q7 actually wins 51.776%.
The reason Q7 is called the computer hand is that before the big boom in online poker, those who played online were conisdered inferior players, and it was a joke that to be playable, it'd have to be a "computer hand".
These days online players have gained much respect, but the tag computer hand is still around.

It's called the computer hand because people online tend to play Q7 but in person they usually don't. Check out http://www.InternetPokerBonuses.com for interesting poker information.
