One of my creatures had an enchantment put on it by my opponent that does not allow my creature to untap once it is tapped. Does this mean he can still attack but not block? (since you tap a creature to attack but tapped creatures can't block). Sorry, we are new at this game please help!

indeed you cannot block as long as it is tapped, and being tapped itself deos not mean a creature is atacking as there are several other reasons for a creature to tap! it is the act of tapping with the intention to attack that makes the creature atack and as you cannot tap an already tapped creature then you must find another way of untapping your creature before you can block or attack with it or even use any ability it may have that requires it to tap as part of the cost!

there are spells and creature or artifact abilities that allow you to tap or untap target creature ("staff of domination" for example is an artifact that allows you to untap target creature) or just destroy the enchantmant!

there are other ways of getting rid of enchanments, if your creature leaves play for example, the enchantment will go into your opponant's graveyard so if you have a card that allows you to return a creature or permanent to your hand you can use this then just summon the creature again ("capsize" does this, and even had buyback if you have enough mana)

when a creature cant untap it can't attack or block.

if that is the case you must

*destroy the enchantment

or

*work around this problem

In that situation it couldn't attack or block.

"Next, tell your opponent which of your creatures are attacking, and tap them. You must declare and tap all of your creatures now...Creatures that are already tapped can't attack."

^^^

That's from the rulebook.
