Solemn warning vs miracle fusion?

So my opponent uses miracle fusion to fusion summon a monster, then I use solemn warning. Now what he does is he puts back the fusion monster in his extra deck, and returns the fusion materials back to his hand. I thought that he still had to send all the cards to his grave, but he argued that only miracle fusion was negated, but the fusion materials wasn't a cost, so he gets all his stuff back. Is that right?

You cannot negate the Fusion Summon, you must negate Miracle Fusion. Miracle Fusion removes the Fusion materials at resolution, so if you negate it with Solemn Warning, the monsters are not removed from play and the Fusion monster is not Summoned.

From what i know fusion material is not a cost so your opponent keeps those cards. Miracle fusion is sent to the grave because it was negated. The fusion monster is also sent to the grave because his summon was negated. I think of it as a synchro summon except the tuner/nontuner are not cost. This means your opponent cannot monster reborn the fusion monster because it was not properly summoned. He can however return the monster to the extra deck and fusion summon it again.
