2,3,4,5,6 beats A,2,3,4,5.
In poker straights, an ace is unique in that it can be either high or low but not both. In this case, it is low and since it can't be high either it is lower than a 6.
A better straight is a straight which ends in the higher card. Since the ace is low, the six is the highest card of the two hands and the 2,3,4,5,6 straight wins

You are comparing two straights there. The highest card determines the strength of the straight.
In this case the six is higher than a five so the six high straight wins.
In poker an ace can be high or low. In this case the ace is playing the part of one, for 1 2 3 4 5. So just because ace is sometimes a high card (like T J Q K A), doesn't mean that it makes for the higher straight in this instance.

It depends on which game of poker you happen to be playing. In Texas Hold 'em, 2,3,4,5,6 would be the higher straight. In Razz, A,2,3,4,5 is known as a Wheel and is the best hand you can hold because in Razz the lowest hand wins.

carl is correct in that in most cases a 2-6 straight beats a A-5 straight.
however, like he said if there is a flush involved, say A-5 of diamonds versus a 2-6 of mixed suits, then the A-5 (a straight flush) would be the dominant hand.
in the event of texas hold-em if the board was 2d 3d 4d 5d and qc
then someone holding the Ad would lose to someone holding the 6d (the higher straight flush)
99% of the time the 2-6 would win except in the event that the A-5 is a flush and the 2-6 is not

The 6 high is the better hand, whoever said the 5 high wins is smoking crack. The higher the straight the better the hand. The ace is played low here, not high.

Amazing the number of wrong answers - in a straight, it is the highest numerical card, and in those examples an ace is "one" (ace can be high or low.) A 6-high straignt beats a 5-high straight. Pretty simple, really.

A six-high straight beats a five-high straight.
An ace is only high card if it's played as high card. If it's played as the card below a two, it's the low card.

in the straight you go by the top card of the run. in the case of the A2345, the A would be the LOW card of the run.

2,3,4,5,6.
A six so far as I know has always been higher than a five.
That is, assuming there is no flush.
