Question:
Magic the gathering. How popular is this game?
2007-12-15 03:55:26 UTC
I am very new to magic the gathering a freind showed me the basics of the game and after a few hands I was hooked. Have I missed the boat on this game or is it still as popular as it was when it first came out, or is it more of an underground game for younger teenage kids. I was just wondering i really like this game and was wondering what the general consensus was on this matter. Thanks for your answers. By the way my first two sixty card decks are both green and red mixed. Is this good or is there a better or best color or combination of colors.

Magic is by far the most popular game. The thing is that more mature players are playing it now. For the most part you need to be able to drive to card shops to play (casually and in weekly tournaments). If you are real good then you will have to drive to your closest major city to enter into serious tornament (Grand Prix, Pro Tour Qualifiers). The other card games are directed toward younger players, but after a certain age those games become kiddie games and players make the switch.

As for what colors are the best, none. Each color has it's strengths and weaknesses. There is a balance to the colors. If one color gets to strong, they normally restore the balance within the next few sets.

Magic is a widely popular game world wide. Congratulations on your choice to indulge yourself in a great game.

The game has been around since 1993 and is still popular. It was the first ever Collectible Card Game. Now, there are many thousands of cards available, and hundreds of thousands of players world wide. The appeal is to people young and old.

The community where I play has players' ages ranging from pre-teen to mid-fifties. So, you are in great company.

If you would like to learn more about the game, you can go to the websites I have listed below. With a new set coming out every few months, there is plenty of excitement and an ever-changing strategies that come with the game.

For outsiders, I like to sum up the game by letting them know that it combines the strategies and skills of poker and chess with a fantasy theme.

As for your decks, there are no bad color combinations in the game. Make the best deck out of the cards you have and try to get better cards to eventually make your deck better.

Remember to have fun while you play, and keep it up.

Considering magic has a world tournament I'd say it's still popular. Red and green is good but i would consider not having both decks red and green. personally I like black and blue control decks

Yea its boat was the size of Titanic when it was first out, and lasted a few years, now it is a fishing boat size with secret players waiting by the shore to get in. lol. At least where I live at... There are 5/6 of us now that still get together and play. I am sure there are lots of players, but it depends where you live. Some people dont even know what MTG is! Some older people assume it is a devil worship game, lmao. The more you play it, the more your hooked, so keep playing. (smile)

They're the same exact thing... except one is played on your computer. I like the online version more, because you can find a game whenever you want one. But if you have a bunch of friends that play, the physical cards can be a lot of fun as well.

MTG is a very good game and it is very fun and i have been playing it for about 3 years. as for the best colors there are no best colors but if you want a flying deck get a blue and white, if you want a suck deck, get a black and white, if you want a control deck, get a blue and red, if you want a kill deck get a red or bla ck or a combo of both, if you want a token/swarm go buy yourself a elvish predation deck and add a thousand year elixir.

yeah well i like it to i'd say it is still the number one card game in the world and that deck you have it doesn't matter what types are in your deck just make your own style
