Lol, harpies feather duster lol, good times good times. That card was banned a long time ago and will never come back we are lucky to have heavy storm. I'll give you the fundamental tips that although rule of thumb, many beginners will benefit, so let's get started.
- 1. The most important you will learn, pick a theme, you want your deck to have one main goal, make your deck consistent.
- 2. Stick to the 40 card main deck limit. Newbies jam pack every card they like and hit 60, being at 40 will make your deck fun more smoothly (I think 40 is a lot lol) and much easier to draw out your best cards.
-3. Study the banned/limited/semi-limited yugioh lisr do that you don't get kicked out of the duel for running two book of moons.
-4. When constructing a deck you wanna run three or two copies of cards (ecspecially monsters) because it greatly increases consitency. All monsters are different and if you run 3 copies of each it will be easier to set up your combos (choose wisely which cards to add three though!)
-5. Since you are new (returning from forever ago) you must become acquainted with synchros and Xyzs. They are very powerful and exceptionally easy to get out which means not running one will put you at such a big disadvantage that there will be no way of compensating for (unless your deck is burn or Exodia or final countdown lol, but that's a completely different deck type). So for synchros summons here is what you do: let's say you want stardust dragon (level 8) simple. All you need is a tuner type monster (all tuners are labeled next to their type) and a regular non tuner monster (can be normal effect anything). And you combine them. The two combined monsters have to have stars equal to level eight (sice stardust is 8). Exactl 8 cannot go over or be under. Xyz are even easier, they have ranks not levels, lets say you want gen knight pearl (rank four) you just overlay 2 level fours and viola that's it. Some synchros and Xyz have certain summoning restrictions but that will be labeled on the card.
-6. As you advance and become familiar with today's meta keep note of what decks seem to beat you and see how you can fix your deck. If you notice a particular type is creaming you every time then in your side deck (deck during matches where you swap out cards) add specific cards designed to counter their strategy and stop them. Beginners overlook the side deck but when used successfully you can defeat any deck!
