What pokemon card packs should I buy?

I'm going to spend about $40 on some pokemon card Packs and I was curious which ones would be best to buy for a chance at a rare cards or cards that are worth decent money? I am well aware there's a huge chance I wouldn't make money but I probably wouldn't even sell the cards anyways

Just by reading your question, I can tell you don't play Pokemon. Unless you are the luckiest man in the world, it is impossible to pull enough ultra rares to break even. But if you want a guaranteed Ultra Rare, buy a tin. The come with a Promo Ex Card and 4 or 5 booster packs. Booster packs are random assortments of 10 pokemon cards. Usually, they are 1 rare, 3 uncommon, 1 reverse/holofoil and 5 common. These tins are very well priced at about 14 bucks a tin.



Another way to get to cool cards are Booster Boxes. These come with 36 packs of booster packs. These are extremely pricey at about 90-100 bucks. But they are cheaper than buy 36 booster packs.

I would personally just go with tins.



I suggest you try learning how to play and buying a theme deck or two to get started. It is loads of fun, and so much better than just collecting them. If you don't want to spend money immediately, try it out on Pokemon TCG Online, for free. If you want to play, watch the videos in the sources.

I think you should get the Plasma Storm, Plasma Freeze, and/or Plasma Blast card packs.
