Question:
Question on Yu-Gi-Oh! Card specifics.?

Okay, here's the situation:

It's my turn, and I lay down a Magic Jammer or something similar. Now, I end my turn and my opponent begins their turn. They play a spell card..

When they activate that spell, am I allowed to play Magic Jammer on it? Keep in mind that my most recent turn I set it down.

The reason I'm asking is that a friend of mine keeps telling me I can't activate trap cards until after my NEXT turn. Not during, but after. Is that right or what?

I've asked him to show me where it says that in the rules, but he hasn't been able to, so I don't believe him. If someone here could maybe quote this rule, IF IT EXISTS, and tell me where I could find it, I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks! =D

Edit: I do know of the rule that says you can't activate the trap the same turn you set it, but I figured that meant I can't put Dragon's Rage or something down, summon a monster, then activate Dragon's Rage. But would my opponents turn count as the same turn I put the card down in?

It is in the rule book!!!!...

Go to the Trap Card Page, it explains that traps must be first set, then after you end your current turn, you are allowed to play it anytime.

Your friend is very very wrong....

You can go to yugioh wikia and search this too

wikia is a really good source of info, so use it in the future

Ah, this is a simple one to explain. Now, the only restriction on playing trap cards is that you can't activate them on the same turn you set them, and you have to set them before you can activate them. If you set a trap card and then end your turn, you can activate it at any time after that, unless the card says otherwise. That's the basis of the rule. In the situation you had above, you were allowed to activate Magic Jammer after they played the spell card because you had already set the trap, so therefore, you are allowed to activate it after your turn ended. Hope I helped.

first of all do u have a card in u hand....if u do then YES cuz magic jammer effect destroy 1 card from u hand to negate a magic card

second u friend is wrong...if u set a trap..let say Trap Hole and u end u turn and u opponent summend a monster u can activate it immedetly with no question

dont believe him and love the game ....u can just type on Google...yugioh rule book and i think it will show it

here is how it works it is very simple. the only turn you cannot activate a trap is the turn you set it.

there are however very few exceptions to that rule.

1. when a monster like black wing magician states you can activate assault mode activate the same turn you set it (this is one exception).

2. delta crow anti reverse: this trap card can be activated from your hand when you control exactly 3 blackwing monsters. other than that you can set it face down. but you have to wait during you opponents turn.

other than that any traps you do set down can be activated any other turn, other than the turn you set the trap. the same goes for quick play spell cards.

here is a small example.

in your first turn you set a sakretsu armor. your opponent makes his move he summons a DD warrior lady, he decides to attack your life points since you have no monster, you have the options to spring your trap card. you choose to destroy DD warrior lady with sakaretsu armor. this can be done the turn after the trap is set.
