This game is also known as Boodle, Stops or (in Britain) Newmarket and is suitable for about 3 to 8 players. It is a fairly simple stops game in which the aim is to get rid of your cards first, and to win stakes by playing particular cards.

There is a variation called Three in One in which before the stops part, each player selects 5 cards from their hand and plays a game of Poker with them. That version is also known as Michigan Rummy, though according the books "Michigan Rum" is actually rummy game - a version of 500 Rum.

The only Michigan Rummy that I heard of, is a copy of the game Rumolli. There are 9 pots. Each player puts a predetermined amount of money in each pot, before the game starts...penny or nickel etc. All the cards are dealt out amongst the players, plus an extra hand that nobody plays. The dealer has the option of changing his hand for the dummy hand, or he may chose to auction it off to the highest bidder. The person next to the dealer starts off with the smallest red card in his hand, and all players play the cards as they have them. e.g. 2 D. Person with 3D plays etc. Once a point is reached, where no-one has the next card (if in dead hand), the player to play the last card must play the lowest black card in his hand. The colour changes at each stoppage. The 9 pots are as follows...10S, JD, QC, KH, AS, 789 any suit, KA of D, Poker Pot and OUT pot.

In the course of the game, as the above cards are played, the person playing collects the money from that pot. If card is not played, the pot carries over to the next hand. Once a player runs out of card, he wins the OUT pot. All other players have to pay him a penny or nickel, whatever the case may be for each card they have left. As well, players can bid for the Poker pot, forming the best poker hand, with their remaining cards. There is no ending to the game, except for a time limit set by all players before starting.

i think thats the game where instead of getting 7 or 10 cards and knocking with 10 points or less, you get 13 cards and have to knock with 5 or less
