Question:
Magic the gathering discard question?

Out of curiosity, in magic the gathering, can you lose the game if someone makes you discard your entire deck, OR would they have to force you to discard your entire deck THEN make you draw a card(thus being impossible due to the lack of deck forcing you to lose)

Im more or less curious if you have to "draw out" or if you would lose if you had to discard more cards than you had in your deck.

Sorry about the potentially basic question, I just wanna be sure of the specifics

Ernst is not quite correct but pika is. If you have no cards in your library AND you have to draw a card (either by an effect or during your draw step), you lose. However there are decks that put the entire library into the graveyard so as to have everything available there. Hermit Druid is one such example. I have a deck that uses her to put everything into the graveyard, then gets whatever I need out of there.

Just as a reminder of terminology, you only discard from your hand. You can be "milled", which is taking cards from the library and putting them into the graveyard, but that is not discarding.

Mind Sculpt would not cause you to lose the game if you had only one card in your library.

You lose the game when you are required to draw and cannot because you have no cards in your library.

Technically, if you have no library, but can avoid drawing, then you can stay in the game. Perhaps with a card like "Maralen of the Mornsong"

If you have no cards in your library and you are required to put cards from your library to your graveyard, or to your hand, or anywhere; or if you're required to search, or shuffle your library, etc. you do not lose the game. Only when you are required to draw a card (i.e. during the draw step, or as the result of an effect).

1. You don't discard from your deck. Discarding is only done from the hand.

2. What you're referring to is milling and yes you lose if you draw and have no cards left in your library.

EDIT: 3. You can't mill what you don't have and milling is NOT drawing a card so the Sculpt wouldn't make you lose instantly but the drawing a card when there's none in your library still holds true in this situation.

Having a empty deck does not make you lose, unable to draw a card because you decked out makes you lose.

So if you have 0 cards in your deck and your opponent uses a card to make you draw, you lose. If your deck is empty and you have to draw a card during your draw phase, you lose.

For magic. NO DECK + DRAW a card = you lose the game.

If you have no library (deck), yes you do lose the game. You must have at least one card there. The only ways you can stay alive is either, "A" use a Platinum Angel, "B" Serra,Avatar (have at least two) or "C" Library Of Leng.
