Question:
Magic MTG Intro Pack vs Deck Builders Toolkit?

My girlfriend recently started playing magic, so I played a few rounds with her and thought it was really fun. She had the White/Green and Black/Blue Avacyn Restored decks, and I much preferred the White/Green one.

I want to spend around $35 max getting started playing Magic. Would it be better for me to get one or two of the intro packs and a booster, or the Deck Builders Toolkit?
Like I said, I really liked the White/Green combo. I know if I get the Deck Builders toolkit I can build more than one deck, and I could mix and match colors more effectively. I'm just not sure if the DB's Toolkit's cards are quite as good, plus I know they're from the 2011 set and not M12.

So, which would you go for? I don't really plan on doing FNM or anything like that. Just playing with friends.

Unless you're willing to play using your wife's Intro Packs, buy a few for yourself just so you can learn the game and get used to the colors.

Don't invest in the deckbuilder's toolkit unless you just want cards to fill your collection. The toolkit is variety of semi-randomized cards.

Which set are you gonna buy? The Return to Ravnica fat pack is around $30 and has some amazing art. Personally, I would buy the fat pack because it has a good array of cards and you've mentioned that you have saved for the deck builder already. However, eventually, I believe that will just come down on the trades you make after setting up a deck, and buying booster packs.

I wouldn't get the Deck Builder's toolkit unless you need the land. It's a bit dated.

I'd recommend getting a fat pack for the land, the storage, and the life counters.
