Yugioh: Effect Monsters Questions?

Question

Lets say I have a penguin soldier in face down defense position. My opponent attacks it but for some reason I DONT want to activate its effect. Can i do that? or does it automatically activate when it flips. Also the card "Suijin". Is its effect that if a monster attacks it, the attacking monster attacks turns to zero and i would then lose life points? And how many times can you use "Suijins" effect.

So basically,

Question 1: Can i decide NOT to activate my monsters Flip effect?

Question 2: Does Suijins effect deplete the attacking monsters attack to zero, therefore causing me to lose life points and causing my monster to go to the graveyard?

Question 3: How many times can you use an effect like Suijins?

I know its quite a bit but thanks for the Help!!

1) For all Flip Effect monsters, the effect activates as soon as it is flipped up. However, regarding your situation, I suggest you take note of the text: "FLIP: You can return up to 2 Monster Cards from the field to the owner's hand." Keyword? "CAN"! You CAN choose to use or not use it. If an effect has that word, its effect is optional.



2) How does it make you lose life points? The monster attacking your monster has to be a monster that is attacking you (aka your opponent's monster or a monster on his side of the field). That monster's attack will go to zero. That monster will be destroyed. That opponent will lose 2500 (or whatever Suijin's attack happens to be at that time) life points.



3) Once, ever, unless it happens to get flipped face down and then back up or removed from the field and then returning.

1. for penguin soldiers effect, it says you CAN return up to 2 monsters on the field,

so no, you dont have to activate his effect, but some flip effect monsters effects cannot be chosen.

2. suijins effect turns your OPPONENTS monsters attack to zero, so you dont loose any life points, and your opponents monster goes to the graveyard.

3.suijins effect states you can only use its effect once, no more.

Question 1: as long as the card says you (can or may) you have a choice!



Question 2: Yes!



Question 3: Once wile he is on the field! If Suijin is sent to the grave and then revived, it resets his

effect so you can use it agin.

if suijins effect was used against you then your monster goe to 0 and you lose the life points of suijins att



he can only use it once unless it it flipped down and back up again
