What does Protection from everything really mean in Magic The Gathering?

The card "Progenitus" has the ability "protection from everything". I took this as protection from all colors(aka colorless can kill it), but my friend says it cant be killed by colorless either. If this is the case, then is there a way to kill this card?

Protection from means:

* Any damage that would be dealt to the creature by sources with the given quality is prevented

* The creature can't be targeted by sources with the given quality

* The creature can't be blocked by creatures with the given quality

* The creature can't be enchanted or equipped by enchantments or equipment with the given quality.

Thus, Progenitus:

* Cannot be damaged by anything

* Cannot be targeted by anything

* Cannot be blocked by anything

* Cannot be enchanted or equipped by anything.

(Note that the controller of Progenitus cannot target it with anything either.)

Protection means those, and only those, things listed above. A spell like Wrath of God doesn't target Progenitus and doesn't damage it, so it will destroy it successfully. (Wrath of God also destroys creatures with Protection from White.)

First answer is right, second answer is not. "Everything" includes things that are colorless, so Progenitus can't be damaged, targeted or blocked even by colorless permanents or spells. There are, however, ways to deal with Progenitus. Mass removal spells (e.g. Wrath of God, Plague Wind, Planar Cleansing, etc.), counters (Cancel, Counterspell, Essence Scatter, etc.), and spells that force an opponent to sacrifice creatures (Malfegor, Cruel Ultimatum, etc.) are all great answers to Progenitus.

Does it say "Protection from all colors"? No. "Everything" means everything. Progenitus cannot be Damaged, Targeted, or blocked by ANYTHING. It can be countered though, since before it's in play its abilities are not in effect.

Colorless damage is one of the few things that can kill progenitus. good luck finding a spell that can deal ten points of colorless damage without targeting it. I've looked. Wrath of god and other global destruction/exile spells will deal with it. I think wither also deals with it, since the damage is dealt in the form of -1/-1 counters, so if he blocks a creature with wither, damage will be assigned to him, and would be prevented due to protection from creatures at a minimum, if it was damage, but it's not, it's -1/-1 counters. ten of those and he's dead.

nope, secure practices from a coloration retains something of the colour from affecting it. This is going from instants and such to creatures of that coloration and additionally colored artifacts. Scragnoth won't have the ability to be countered and it won't have the ability to be concentrated with the aid of blue spells and can't be laid low with blue creatures. secure practices works for each little thing, and that's not important who does it.
